For the first time, Stone Ridge offered an after school program from Mix Major. Mix Major is a music-making education program that teaches kids how to make the music they listen to and love. Kids collaborate and explore musical possibilities - finding their own sound, their own voice, and discovering their own musical identities.

Mix Major’s founder, Eric Jao, has toured all over the world and worked with some of the music industry’s biggest names...Madonna, Linkin Park, and Wiz Khalifa (to name a few). Jao began his music career as a mobile DJ while attending Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (’93) and continued through his years at the University of VA (B.S. in Commerce/Marketing ’97), becoming a staple in the Washington DC nightlife scene. Shortly after winning the nation’s most prestigious DJ competition, Jao left his career as a network engineer at MCI/Worldcom to pursue music full-time.  As a producer, Eric Jao has released music on major record labels including Sony, Universal, and Interscope. In 2015, Eric Jao founded Mix Major to share his passion for musical creativity with others. Himself a father of two children, Jao understands and supports the need for creative development in children.

Here are the songs the Stone Ridge girls created in their Mix Major class.
