The Class of 2016 graduated today, June 9, in front of Hamilton House on a picture perfect morning. These 84 young ladies wore traditional white gowns, holding a bouquet of red roses presented by SR Grade 2 students wearing their First Eucharist dresses. The Class received diplomas in front of their proud families, friends, Trustees, administration, and faculty.
Valedictorian Caroline Conlan ’16, gave a heart warming talk about her Stone Ridge experience, the bond of her class, her “teachers who have poured their hearts and souls into giving us a Sacred Heart education”, and her wish for a future that will be grounded in the five Goals of a Sacred Heart education. Caroline concluded by saying, “My beautiful Class of 2016, thank you for the best four years of my life. As you embark on your adventures, may you never lose that light in your eyes every time you talk about serving others, may you approach life with the celebration of a Congè, and may you lead with the all wisdom of a life lesson from Mr. Ish. You are heroes, and you are my sisters, and I could not be more proud.”
Marjorie Gillespie, MD, Class of 1987, gave a poignant address to the students probing “what type of life will you lead?” As a doctor, she referred to the science behind happiness and told the graduates 3 things to do to be happy. R.G.P.
R is for relationships, to be the kind of person that a friend wants to call when they are in need. G is for generosity. Studies show that people feel better when they give to others. P is for purpose. Your life’s purpose should not be about your job, degrees, or your salary. It should be more important than that. If you have a life’s purpose, gaining degrees and holding jobs along the way, you will have purpose.
Stone Ridge is very proud of the Class of 2016!
